By paying close attention to your playing and constantly giving yourself feedback, you can focus in on the moments that give you the most trouble and work at those specifically. One additional way to give yourself feedback might be to record yourself. If I record myself playing my Errol Garner tune, I can even compare it to the original, and make notes about the spots where I’m not quite getting it right!
Youssra ِِEl Hawary is an Egyptian accordionist, composer, songwriter, singer, and actress. Her Indiegogo campaign raises funds to record her band’s debut album. For Lalita, a trained cellist, she is without work indefinitely and running out of money quickly as she shares all resources with family and friends in need. Sunday night, only hours after cooking at El Local, she suffered a panic attack, she says, which led her to make an agonizingly difficult decision.
Drumming and loud sound are such large parts of Puerto Rican culture, it only makes sense they’d be the focal point of this week’s protests. Take a listen!
These days, the concept of a mailing list may seem antiquated and, to an extent, it is. Everyone with an inbox gets bombarded with offers and unsolicited invites each and every day — most of which are promptly deleted without even a glance. Morricone, Rota, Cipriani, Umiliani, Piccioni, Ortolani, Trovajoli: They’ve all influenced my work in countless ways, and not just in their shared collaboration with Edda Dell’Orso. After all, if the point is just to have on background music so your dog isn’t stuck listening to absolutely nothing all day while you’re gone, these are good options. But if your dog is guilty of loving you too much and cries when you leave, then my guess is that these playlists aren’t going to do much for them.

Lulu has been languishing in jail, and the stage directions require a pre-recorded film to play, which begins to run in reverse halfway through the reel. The music matches this, pivoting on dense piano arpeggio that mirrors its ascent and descent:
